remember you
are not you, now. you are you
a year from now. how does that
woman walk? she is not sick or sad.
doesn’t even remember today.
has been to Europe. what song
is she humming? now. right now.
that’s it.

the heart
with its gift for magnificent expansion
is not coal. not fruit set to spoil or the dollar
cringing in its wallet. when you say darling,
the world lights up at its edges.

Holy shit

After wikipedia-ing Stephen King to see where he peaked I just found out that he’s writing a sequel to The Shining. I fucking loved The Shining—it’s one of my favorite novels. Either it’s going to be fucking fantastic or fucking horrible but either way I’m excited.

Have only started it but the book is pretty solid thus far for a first novel. Hopefully it doesn’t go downhill a la all of Stephen King’s books after It.

People see what they wish to see. And in most cases, what they are told that they see.

You have to understand your limitations so you can overcome them.

Hector: Why do we wind our watch?
Celia: Because everything requires energy. We must put effort and energy into anything we wish to change.

Alexander: But such a temper is always an unfortunate variable. It can lead to impulsive behavior.
Hector: She'll either grow out of it or learn to control it.

A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.

Frida Kahlo to Marty McConnell

leaving is not enough; you must
stay gone. train your heart
like a dog. change the locks
even on the house he’s never
visited. you lucky, lucky girl.
you have an apartment
just your size. a bathtub
full of tea. a heart the size
of Arizona, but not nearly
so arid. don’t wish away
your cracked past, your
crooked toes, your problems
are papier mache puppets
you made or bought because the vendor
at the market was so compelling you just
had to have them. you had to have him.
and you did. and now you pull down
the bridge between your houses,
you make him call before
he visits, you take a lover
for granted, you take
a lover who looks at you
like maybe you are magic. make
the first bottle you consume
in this place a relic. place it
on whatever altar you fashion
with a knife and five cranberries.
don’t lose too much weight.
stupid girls are always trying
to disappear as revenge. and you
are not stupid. you loved a man
with more hands than a parade
of beggars, and here you stand. heart
like a four-poster bed. heart like a canvas.
heart leaking something so strong
they can smell it in the street.

I don’t need anyone to make me happy

but I sure as hell don’t need anyone in my life trying to make me unhappy.

Best face of the night.

For most people, it’s harder to frown than smile. For Eric Cantor, it’s the opposite.

I can understand this.

Guys, I’ve decided that this is the closest dog breed that resembles me so for reasons I’m going to adopt one from a whippet rescue society one day.

Googled these to make sure they were clementines. The leaves threw me off! Give me a break, I’m from America — we never see fruits and vegetables that actually resemble the environment they’re grown in.

Satsumas are still my favorites. These are pretty great too though.
